Key research infrastructures for EU support are on the ESFRI priority list. They will provide EU authorities and funding bodies with Letters of Intent from national or regional authorities. These Letters of Intent will state that the research infrastructure is also critical for national or regional science. The commitment of national or regional authorities is particularly important in the cases in which the infrastructure fulfills tasks on behalf of such bodies by mandate.
